Mohamed Ehab 190kg Clean & Jerk

March 12, 2014 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in Egypt …

Mohamed Ehab (69kg) is putting his triple bodyweight Front Squat to use and breaks the 190kg Clean & Jerk barrier (185kg C&J here).

Last time, when I said he was closing in on Liao Hui’s record some of you regarded it almost as blasphemy.

With 8 months to go until the 2014 World Championships I think he has a good chance…

Update 08.08.2014: Here is another 190kg.

There’s a big difference between training lifts and competition lifts. Remember Rasoul Taghian? 211kg C&J in training, but he almost bombed out with 196kg at the Worlds.

Taghian did give me a scare, but yep, you’re totally right. A couple extra kgs in body weight make a big difference.

Yes Ilya did 240 cj in training and 233 at olympics although it was easy. You lose some of your strength as you cycle off

Exactly. Ehab never stands up from the deep squat position with this weight in competition, after “cleaning up” and cutting weight.

And I think Liao Hui has done 210 in training based on the comments he made in a video that was on ATG a little while ago.

I think he has a legitimate chance. I realize the cleaning up and diet arguements, but there are 8 months left until world championships and more than 2 years until Rio. At the rate he’s progressing (hoping he doesnt get injured or banned), theres no telling what numbers he can hit.
