Here is a highlight from the 2015 Europeans Training Hall.
18 year old Simon Martirosyan taking some big jumps while working up to 160kg.
Ramsey from Fast Lane Fitness / @underthebarwl, who filmed this for ATG noted, that he really just took:
- 20kg x 3
- 70kg x 2
- 120kg x 1
- and we are ready for 160kg …
Then he finished it off with Clean & Jerks, Clean Pulls and Hyperextensions.
As always, make sure to watch in 1080p50.
the last part of that last back extension looks like it would break his back. I mean I’m sure he knows what he is doing but it looks painful
Looks like this only to us mortals.
Will he be at the JWC?
That was my hope, but I guess he will prepare for Senior worlds again.
Too bad. He currently has a far higher chance of winning the JWC than medaling at the WWC.
Absolute and total beast! Especially since he’s only 18. Hopefully, he’ll stay healthy and train correctly so he can be a star for years. We’ve seen a few young “phenoms” his age (Naim, Alexi Petrov, Szyomon Kolecki, etc.) Where would he rank amongst that crew? Just posing the question and very interested to hear the ATG Community’s thoughts.
It’s hard to assess atm imo. He had an amazing 2014 with all the YWRs, but he also hasn’t increased his total in a year. To win senior medals like Kolecki at a young age he’ll have to increase his lifts to 190-230 in the next 2-3 years given the strength of the 105s currently.
Sorry, of course that list is not complete without Mr. Ilin (17 y/o World Champion)
