Stefan Topurov (Bulgaria) was the first man in the history of Olympic weightlifting to lift 3 times bodyweight. It happend at the WC-1983 in Moscow where Topurov cj’d 180 kg in the 60 kg weightclass. Later he also liffted 182.5 and 185 kg at the Druzhba Cup in Varna Bulgaria.

If I could choose only one competition to watch, this (84 friendship) would be the one. We could see Vardanian, Suleymanoglu, Pisarenko, Taranenko, Blagoy, Zakahrevich and others in the same plataform.

Actually Stoichkov’s 210 was a WR, then Pashov beat it with 201.5, then Stoichkov reclaimed the WR with the 211. Very brief WR’s———–were nevertheless, WR’s. Stoichkov’s 210 really had him looking good in that attempt, for a 220!
